Music

“That we may obtain [justifying] faith, the Ministry of Teaching the Gospel and administering the Sacraments was instituted. For through the Word and Sacraments, as through instruments, the Holy Ghost is given, who works faith; where and when it pleases God, in them that hear the Gospel, to wit, that God, not for our own merits, but for Christ’s sake, justifies those who believe that they are received into grace for Christ’s sake.”

Augsburg Confession, Article V

the Service

Because music is the living voice of the Gospel, Lutheran worship is awash in beautiful artistic expositions of the faith. We celebrate the Divine Service weekly and on feast days, and use Lutheran Service Book as our hymnal. The Service is richly embellished with organ and choral music.

the Organ

Known as “Boston’s Bach organ,” the FLC pipe organ is one of the finest in the region. Built by Richards, Fowkes & Co. and installed in 2000, it is voiced with a gentle, vocal quality ideal for the accompaniment of congregational song. It renders the organ repertoire of the historic Lutheran tradition with authenticity, adorning the service with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs and assisting the congregation in its praise of God.
