Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen.  Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in.  Our current study is Martin Luther’s Large Catechism. If you do not have a hard copy of the Book of Concord we are providing it for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.

This week we will recite Psalm 145, read the Third Petition of the Lord’s Prayer from the Small Catechism, and sing verse 4 of “Our Father, Who From Heaven Above” (LSB 766).  We will then study the Third Petition of the Lord’s Prayer in the Large Catechism.  We will talk about what God’s will is and how it is accomplished here on Earth. We will also discuss the Theology of the Cross versus the Theology of Glory. We will close this section with the hymn “What God Ordains Is Always Good” (LSB 760).

We will then recite Psalm 104, read the Fourth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer from the Small Catechism, and sing verse 5 of “Our Father, Who From Heaven Above” (LSB 766).  We will then study the Fourth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer in the Large Catechism.  We will talk about our daily bread and how the Lord provides it.  We will close this section with the hymn “Now Thank We All Our God” (LSB 895).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
