Christians practice their faith within a community of believers, both through participation in the Divine Service, and through building relationships with fellow Christians that support our daily life.  At First Lutheran Church, we call attention to the importance of these relationships through what we call our “FLC Family” ministry.  The goal of FLC Family is to develop vibrant Christian community and care at First Lutheran Church through the example of Jesus’ love.

Because of the number of families with young children, a key ministry emphasis is providing Christian resources for marriage and parenting, to support families in living their faith in the post-Christian Boston culture.  In addition to the church’s excellent Sunday School program for children, ministry activities include regular marriage workshops and couples’ social events, a monthly mothers’ Bible study, and monthly pre-school play dates.

Additionally, FLC Family ministry seeks to provide opportunities for the people of First Lutheran to support for others in need within and outside the congregation. We have a strong volunteer relationship with The Ruth House in Brockton, a Lutheran home for teenage mothers and their young families.  Additionally, we have initiated a care ministry in partnership with the church elders, to assist the pastors in identifying and meeting congregant spiritual needs.
